17,000 People Tested for HIV in the City of Houston Last Week According to Reports

Protect yourself: Seventeen thousand people purportedly were tested for HIV last week and nineteen thousand tested positive for Syphilis.

The HHD has seen a 128% increase in cases among women and a nine-fold rise.

In 2023 HHD attempted to “help mitigate the spread,” by launching a rapid outreach response that includes increasing screening opportunities, targeting hotspots and mobilizing community partners to curb new infections.

The department waved all clinical fees for sexually transmitted infections at its health centers, according to the press release.

Houston currently accounts for 25% of all Syphilis cases in the state of Texas.
