Texas Governor Greg Abbott has released a statement outlining states' rights to constitutional self-defense when dealing with a "lawless president"
"James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border."
Govenor Abbott has led an aggressive campaign to deter migrants from crossing the border, which has created tensions with the Biden regime. The DOJ recently sued Texas after Abbott passed a law allowing migrants to be arrested for crossing the border.
The dispute at Eagle Pass has transformed a hitherto political battle between Republicans and Democrats into an unprecedented physical standoff between state and federal governments.
Abbott’s defense comes a day after the Texas National Guard vowed to “hold the line” and “protect the sovereignty of our State” in the dispute with the US government.
“The Texas Military Department continues to hold the line in Shelby Park to deter and prevent unlawful entry into the State of Texas. We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State,” it said in a statement.
The dispute has also led to Republicans rallying behind Texas and cast the standoff as similar to a civil war.
“The feds are staging a civil war, and Texas should stand their ground,” Rep. Clay Higgins, a GOP congressman from Louisiana, said following the Supreme Court decision
Texas Democrats in Congress are now calling upon Joe Biden to seize control of the Texas National Guard
Republican Governor’s Stit and DeSantis have both spoken out in support of Texas defending its border.
Meanwhile, Congressman Dan Crenshaw would like to inform his constituents of his new athletic clothing line while our border continues to be invaded. One may also want to inquire as to why Dan won’t publicly acknowledge on the news that one of the largest illegal immigrant colonias is sitting only 9.8 miles from his Kingwood office. It is almost as if the Congressman is using his political influence to serve others than his own constituents….
This is the invocation of the Tenth amendment that Don Huffines called for, what, two years ago now?
Better late than never. Hold the line!
