Background: Harris County Commissioners Court agenda drops mid-morning Friday for County Employees to research, and confirm there is nothing questionable about the contracts, especially since the alleged bid rigging vaccine outreach contract scandal occurred. The process behind the agenda dropping is a bit of a circus since county employees are really only given one full business day to review over 300 agenda items. To put this in perspective, a staff of 5 have over 100s of thousands of pages of contracts to review, but only for 8 hours. This situation seems like a pretty easy way for contracts that might not be on the up-and-up to be passed through, yeah?
Bond Initiative Program
County Democrat Commissioner Adrian Garcia brought forth floating a bond initiative for the upcoming November Election. Here’s the most recent update on your taxes possibly getting raised.
Another consulting group is receiving a contract for $477k for the County Administrators office to “improving Procure to Pay Processes and Outcomes”
Protiviti Inc. has received several high paying contracts from the county, and I’m afraid the results they have yielded are not-so-impressive. $375 an hour seems like a lot of money the county should be spending on a consulting group.
Here’s another contract for Protiviti, Inc for $388k to provide “technical election support”
And another contract for the HCTRA
250. $425,234k one-year agreement for web services re: Elections Administrator’s office.
315. $7.7 Million for maternal health, would this be used for abortion services? Commissioner Ellis had brought up something about ARPA funds being used for abortions.
