Former Director to Sylvester Turner William Paul Thomas sentenced after pleading guilty in bribery charges
The former director of council relations in Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner's office, William Paul Thomas, has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to bribery charges. Thomas received 12 months and 1 day in federal prison. He served in his position for 14 years and resigned following his guilty plea to federal charges
Yep, must have received a nice "hush money" settlement. Shouuld have been a longer sentence to flip him...
Why was there such a delay in sentencing (over a year)? Was Thomas negotiating for reduced sentencing in return for incriminating evidence against... well, someone? Since he's now been sentenced, it seems we can assume no deal was made.
