In a statement released Friday night, Texas State Representative Gary Gates condemning the articles of impeachment in which he voted for:

“As I’ve reflected on 2023 and the year ahead, I’ve considered how historical events shape world views and our political views for the rest of our lives. For instance, the war in Ukraine and the October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel have shaped and changed many Americans and their beliefs forever. For myself, the impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton - and the continued legal harassment of President Trump by national Democrats - have become reflection points for me. l firmly believe that both the House impeachment and the Senate trial were actions that should not have occurred.

Ken is the most conservative Attorney General in the United States and is a beacon on how to get tough with the Biden Administration. His actions as Attorney General have demonstrated that he is working to safeguard both our borders and our children. I look forward to winning my re-election this year and working closely with the Paxton team in the 2025 session.
