DHS sources confirm a man from Haiti who was arrested in connection with raping a 15 year old girl at a migrant shelter this week in Massachusetts--Flew directly into the U.S. from Haiti, taking advantage of the CHNV migrant parole program.
26-year-old Cory Bernard Alvarez arrived to JFK airport in New York Airport n 6/26/23. He was arrested 3/14/24 for rape of a child. He was born and raised in Cite Soleil, Haiti and didn’t have criminal history when he was paroled in.
His point of contact/sponsor listed is in New Jersey.
He currently has an ice detainer lodged against him.
What is the CHNV parole program? The administration has opened the door for up to 30k Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans to fly directly into the U.S. after being vetted and have a sponsor here—They usually get a two year grant under humanitarian parole—This allows them to work and live in the U.S. legally.
I reached out to ICE/CBP for comment and have not heard back.
