Over years of good governance and balanced budgets under Republican leadership, Harris County had amassed over $300 million in the county’s Public Improvement Contingency “PIC” funds. In the past year alone, the county’s PIC funds have dwindled down to nearly $30 million dollars, due to the Democrats using these funds to impose their Marxist agenda items onto the county. The PIC funds are normally used in case of catastrophe i.e. hurricanes. natural disasters, and emergencies. As of this moment, the majority citizens have yet to receive FEMA funding that was due to them after Hurricane Harvey in August of 2017, I wonder what happened with those funds?
Today, I was perusing the county’s Short FY Budget for ‘22 when I stumbled across the PIC funds being used for a variety of departments. Most of the requests came from the county democrats precinct offices.
-County Judge, Lina Hidalgo requested $111,813 dollars
-Commissioner Rodney Ellis requested $679,966
-Commissioner Adrian Garcia requested $2,200,000 million.
-Public Health Department requested nearly $17 million dollars.
-Election Services requested $796,372 dollars.
Bear in mind, that the elections department has nearly a $30 million dollar budget. Why would they need to pull from the county’s PIC funds when they had just received funding in February of this year?
You can take a look at the budget here.
What I found most alarming is, the county’s Public Health Departments exorbitant use of our PIC funds. Last year, the Democrats and Public Health department made a motion to create a “Pandemic Division” the creation of this division came at the cost of $17.79 million from our PIC funds. The excuse for creating this department was the appeance of the so-calledcMU variant, “for all you cows to believe that manure” as commissioner Adrian Garcia stated in commissioner’s court on the day that the RFP was motioned to carry.
Another item I take issue with, is the county’s manufactured prison overcrowding crisis. Due to the county defunding the District Attorneys’s office, and the concomitant backlogs that caused, inmates are waiting 2 years for their cases to be tried, denying their right to due process. These backlogs exist because the DA’s office is chronically underfunded by the unelected bureaucrat David Berry, the County Administratorr . Meanwhile Jury selection which used to be held in the DA’s building, had to be held at NRG Stadium, miles away from the courthouse. This manufactured issue cost the county $6.4 million dollars because it had to contract with private prisons due to the prison’s overpopulation problem.
Imagine if the Democrats actually just fixed the *root causes* and saved us millions instead of creating constant manufactured crises in order to fill their crony’s pockets.
Excellent reporting. Why can’t these illegal and wasteful practices be understood by prosecutors? Thank you, Miss Merissa.
Great job Merissa
