On March 9, 2025, Jamie White, a reporter for InfoWars, was shot and killed outside his apartment complex in Austin, Texas. According to the Austin Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:56 p.m. in the parking lot of White's residence. Authorities believe White may have interrupted suspects attempting to burglarize his vehicle, leading to the shooting. He was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead despite efforts to save him. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing as of today.
InfoWars founder Alex Jones announced White’s death, describing it as a "brutal murder" and praising White as one of his best reporters. Jones has speculated about motives, including suggesting it "could have been a hit," and has called for investigations by political figures, while also blaming local policies and the Travis County District Attorney, José Garza, whom he claims is backed by George Soros. White’s family, however, has indicated they do not believe it was a targeted attack, though they note the investigation is still in early stages. Police have not confirmed any motive beyond the possible burglary connection.
White, 36, was a graduate of Ohio University and had worked for InfoWars, a platform known for alternative media, though the duration of his tenure is unclear. His death marks Austin’s eighth homicide of 2025
“This senseless murder is a tragedy, and Governor Abbott and First Lady Abbott pray for his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Texas is a law-and-order state, and criminals must know that justice is awaiting them. Activist judges and District Attorneys like Jose Garza have too much discretion to let repeat offenders out on bail, only to see them harm more Texans, which is why Governor Abbott declared bail reform an emergency item. This session, Governor Abbott will work with the Texas Legislature to pass a constitutional amendment to require judges to deny bail for those charged with capital murder and other heinous violent crimes.”- Press Secretary Andrew Mahaleris

Currently, the District Attorney, Raul Garza had accepted over 6-figures of private security, while his own policies are what resulted in White’s murder.
