Former Houston City Councilman Masrur J. “MJ” Khan recently launched his campaign for Mayor of Houston. While the field of candidates is becoming increasingly crowded, the race is widely known to be between State Senator John Whitmire and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. The other announced candidates lack the funding, support, or name identification to run viable campaigns.
Khan is positioning himself as the “ONLY Conservative Candidate” running for Mayor. Khan has been actively soliciting support from Republican precinct chairs and activists and was a sponsor of a recent meeting of the Harris County Republican Party Executive Committee.
With only two viable candidates in the race for Mayor, many local conservatives are expected to support Whitmire for no other reason than he is viewed as a lesser of two evils compared to Sheila Jackson Lee.
I have looked at Khan’s political contributions and social media posts, and it is clear that he is no conservative. Khan knows he has no chance of being elected Mayor, and I believe that Sheila Jackson Lee may have put him up to running as a trojan horse to siphon conservative votes from Whitmire.
Khan has an extensive history of donating to Democratic politicians, including Sheila Jackson Lee.
Since 2000, Khan has contributed $2,000 to SheJack with the most recent donation occurring in 2019.
Last year, Khan donated $1,000 to SheJack’s congressional comrade Al Green, and an additional $1,000 in 2021.
Khan has also made recent donations to two Democrat State Representatives, Salman Bhojani and Suleman Lalani.
Eric Swalwell, the California Democratic Congressman best known for his liaisons with the Chinese spy Fang Fang, received a campaign from Khan as well.
On social media, Khan expressed agreement with a tweet made Sylvester Turner attacking election integrity legislation supported by Texas Republicans. Khan described this legislation as “voter suppression laws likes of which we see under dictatorships around the world.
In another tweet, Khan appeared to agree with the Texas Democratic Party’s call for Governor Abbott to resign, saying “that will be a start.
Khan also endorsed Abbie Kamin, one of the most radical liberals on Houston City Council. In his endorsement statement, Khan said “Abbie has been a champion against hate and racism. She will make all of us proud of her leadership on the city council.:
With such staggering evidence that MJ Khan is not a conservative, why is he now pretending to be one as a Mayoral candidate? Conservative Houstonians should beware of Khan and question the true motives of his campaign.
Thanks for the full picture here. There may not be much left to defend in Houston/Harris, but SheJack is the death blow if there is.
Yes, The Whitmire camp is already ahead of Turner & SheJack! They've got Syliva Garcias's boots on the ground cadre and district county candidates ready to scoop of their votes. It's gonna be a fight between the ethnic lines and the whites may have to be the tie breaker! Whoohoo!! we'll finally have a voice. (Note: conservatives have no candidate because the Uni=Party deems so.) BUT the real "ace in the hole" AGAIN will be Ft Bend .... remember ?? Turner's acceptance speech statement? "oooo-we, I love me some Ft Bend".. . They will have to show up and show out. Hmm. I wonder what kind of improvements the Harris County Ft. Bend residents have seen these past years? No Crime?
