Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into WK Kellogg Co., widely recognized as Kellogg's, over potential breaches of Texas consumer protection laws. The investigation focuses on Kellogg's promotion of cereals like Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, and Rice Krispies as "healthy," even though they contain artificial food dyes. According to Paxton, these petroleum-derived colorings—spanning shades of blue, red, yellow, green, and orange—are associated with health risks such as hyperactivity, obesity, autoimmune disorders, endocrine disruptions, and cancer. He pointed out that while Kellogg's committed to eliminating these dyes and the preservative BHT from its offerings, the changes have been implemented in Canada and Europe but not in the U.S. Paxton stressed that the investigation seeks to ensure accountability for companies that mislead consumers, especially families and children, about the health benefits of their products.
