Lt. Gov Patrick Lambasts Harris County Commissioners for Circumventing Voter Registrar to Use 3rd Party Vendor in Registering Voters
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has expressed concern over an upcoming vote this Tuesday by the Harris County Commissioners Court, where there's an attempt to bypass reforms by potentially using a third-party vendor for voter registration, which could lead to non-citizens being registered to vote. As most residents of Harris County know, there is a supermajority of Democrats, meaning that this initiative will most likely be passed.
The text-2-register initiative came from Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Ellis was also integral in creating the now defunct Election Administrator Office and position back in 2020.

More on the audit report of Harris County:
The audit highlighted serious issues within Harris County's elections, including problems with voter registration data, supply distribution to polling places, and equipment issues. Notably, the audit found discrepancies in voter registration numbers, with Harris County reporting over 9,000 more voters than what was officially communicated to the state. Additionally, there were instances where mail ballots were not properly accounted for, and the distribution of ballot paper did not comply with state law, leading to shortages at polling locations.
