Michael Yon: Greg Abbott has Accepted $1.4 million from Colony Ridge Developers

Michael Yon, a former war correspondent and vocal critic of illegal immigration, has repeatedly accused Texas Governor Greg Abbott of enabling the growth of Colony Ridge, a massive housing development in Liberty County, Texas. Yon claims Colony Ridge has become a haven for illegal immigrants, alleging it fosters crime and cartel activity due to lax oversight and predatory lending practices targeting Hispanic immigrants. He points to Abbott’s receipt of $1.4–$1.5 million in campaign donations from Colony Ridge developers, particularly Trey and Celeste Harris, between 2018 and 2022, as evidence of corruption and complicity. Yon argues Abbott’s policies, including his alleged failure to secure the border, have allowed Colony Ridge to flourish as an “invasion city” under the influence of globalist agendas like the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Yon’s claims align with reports from conservative outlets like The Daily Wire, which detailed how Abbott petitioned the federal government in 2018 to designate Colony Ridge an Opportunity Zone, granting tax breaks that fueled its expansion. These reports suggest Abbott’s relationship with the developers, including lunches at the governor’s mansion, coincided with the donations and the development’s growth to 34,000 acres, housing 40,000–100,000 residents, many allegedly undocumented.
