Paxton to Seek Judicial Orders to Declare Vacancy of Runaway Democrat Seats

Attorney General Ken Paxton has stated that Texas House Democrats who broke quorum and continue to neglect their legislative responsibilities are effectively abandoning their offices. He plans to seek a court ruling to declare their seats vacant.

Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows has set a deadline of Friday, August 8, for members to return to Texas and appear before the House. Paxton has warned that lawmakers who are not arrested and returned or who fail to meet this deadline will face aggressive legal action.
