After Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis was ordered to pay back the County for the storage of the alleged stolen African Artwork, it has been found through a PIA request that the Commissioner has made not one single payment back to the County. The renovations Ellis made alone to the public storage shed cost the County $326k, this excludes the cost to taxpayers 2+ years’ worth of storing the fourteen hundred art pieces. The alleged owner, Sam Nunjuri, was ordered to put the artwork up for auction, when Nunjuri ended up making a 11th hour bankruptcy filing, cancelling the auction of the secretly stored African Art in Harris County.
