Rick Perry States Rino Dade Phelan Has the Votes to Become House Speaker
It is about time we start thinking about Texas politics... First up is the 89th Texas Legislature in the Texas House of Representatives. Republicans will hold 88 of 150 seats. House Speaker requires 76 votes, a simple majority. Dade Phelan was the previous Speaker and he can go screw himself, his seat was vacated for going after Paxton and now that the election's over it's time to elect a new Speaker. Dade will run again, we can't let him win. 62 Democrats will vote for him (and a handful of Republicans), so we need to make some noise with our representatives. The vote will be on January 14, 2025. David Cook currently has support from 48 Representatives. He needs more votes. I need you to find your House Representative and call them, email them, tag them here, or otherwise make sure they know YOU want them to vote for Dave Cook over Dade Phelan.
what's the sell for Cook ? He voted to impeach Paxton too. Has he made any statements to acknowledge that? My rep is Stan Kitzman and I know he caucuses with dems during the session like another 35 or so that rotate in to allow dems to stop good legislation.
