Texas House Release Invoices from the Paxton Impeachment totaling $4.3 Million, One million More than the Whistleblower Paxton Settlement
The Texas House of Representatives hired a public relations firm with your money to shape public opinion about the trial both before AND after the trial.
It makes you wonder if YOUR taxpaying dollars went to the Texas Tribune to write all these puff pieces on RINO’s like Andrew Murr.
The chair of the House board of impeachment managers, Rep. Andrew Murr, more directly defended the costs in his own statement.
“The future of Texas's governance, rooted in trust and transparency, justifies this expenditure, reinforcing the belief that the foundations of our democracy are worth every penny,” The Junction Republican said.
as you can see, Andrew Murr had used over $32 thousand of your taxpayer dollars to cover PR and shape public opinion for the impeachment trial with New West Communications.
According to the Texas AG, “This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Paxton said in a statement Thursday. “Whether it’s the House costs, Senate costs, or the overall impeachment session costs, many millions more were incurred on [House Speaker] dade phelans sham and needless impeachment.”
The House’s $4.3 million tab is higher than the $3.3 million taxpayer-funded settlement that Paxton initially sought from the House, kicking off the impeachment process. Paxton was trying to settle with former top deputies in his office who had accused him of abusing his office, and instead of approving the settlement, the House balked at using taxpayer dollars for it and decided to investigate the underlying claims.
