Why Would TeXas Elected Officials Block SB147 Blocking Foreign Land Purchases?
SB147 was a significantly watered-down version of an earlier proposed bill that had issued an outright ban on land sales to dual citizens and businesses associated with China, Iran, North Korea and Russia. SB 147 was diluted due to outcry from Asian American groups and others who claimed it would make it impossible for dual citizens and other immigrants to buy homes or start businesses.
The Chinese criminal networks are laundering huge amounts of cash for the Mexican Cartels and they are buying property all over America. How is it a good thing for any citizen in the state of Texas or our country? When you look at the stats of Chinese entering the country illegally at record levels due to the wide-open border and you see all the illegal marijuana grow operations they control in the country, you realize our elected officials are owned by the cartels.

That bill passed the senate and died in the House State Affairs Committee chaired by Republican Todd Hunter. A true blue RINO that voted to impeach Paxton and seeing the writing on the wall did not seek re-election. He was a dem state rep from late 80's to late 90's and came back as a republican in 2009 until he dropped out recently. He was a very reliable dem voter as part of the cabal of 45 or so liberal repubs that would rotate their alliances to provide the needed 16 votes to allow dems to kill republican bills.
