Harris County Issues Felony Charges for Darryl Blackburn Concerning 2022 Election
What the News Outlets haven't told you about Blackburn.....
Former Harris County employee Darryl Blackburn has been charged with theft and tampering with government documents in connection with his role in the county's November 2022 election in which several polling places ran out of paper ballots.
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. However, both Ogg and Harris County Felony Chief Prosecutor Mike Levine stressed that the Texas Rangers' investigation into the election had not found an intention to disrupt the election to benefit one party over the other.
Levine said the five tampering charges are each punishable by up to two years in jail. The theft charge is a third-degree felony, and if convicted Blackburn could serve an additional 10 years.
Levine said Blackburn was hired to manage allocations during the early-voting period and on Election Day. He added that the investigation found that while the county employed Blackburn, he worked a second full-time job at an oil and gas company in The Woodlands.
“This is not somebody who said they left work at 3 p.m. and left at 4 p.m. This is 15 months of sustained double-dipping on time sheets,” Levine said. “He worked exclusively from home for Harris County, yet frequently worked in person at his other higher-paying job in The Woodlands. He claimed the same time on timesheet after timesheet.”
Only, it appears that the County and Rangers have left out Darryl Blackburn’s involvement in Harris County elections over the last several years and Blackburn’s association with politicians in the County and City of Houston.
On September 25th, 2020, prior to the 2020 Presidential Election, County Attorney, Christian Menefee requested on the behalf of the County Clerk, Chris Hollins to bring Darryl Brooks on as a contractor for the 2020 Presidential Election.
A PIA has been submitted to see as to how much Darryl was paid to offer contract services with the County in 2020.
Darryl Blackburn served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters Houston. Interestingly, Chris Hollins is also a part of the association- Could this be how the two know one another?
Blackburn also received the “History Maker” award from Mayor Turner in 2019
Blackburn was incremental in working towards the jail effort, allowing inmates to supply mail-in ballots.
According to reports, Blackburn was paid $250,000 working as an Engineer at Hess Energy and was being paid $90,000 + health insurance working for Harris County. It has been stated that Blackburn allotted 98% of paper ballots to all 782 polling locations for the 2022 Election. It was discovered that nearly 20+ polling locations ran out of ballots. In election standards, an official is supposed to supply ten percent more ballots than the previous election. Blackburn also purportedly clocked in 18 hours of work the day of the Election whereas he was found to have been working at his other job for 8 hours.
It’s safe to say, Blackburn was politically connected in how he obtained his position at Harris County Elections Department. The question lies, why would someone who is bringing home a quarter million-dollar salary accept another job for $90 thousand dollars?
Blackburn has since turned himself in and awaits further proceedings, his bond set at $65,000. The most serious of six felony charges filed against Blackburn, theft by public servant, carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
I find it hard to believe that this is solely about “greed” that has been claimed by officials solely by seeing the connections in which Mr. Blackburn has. There is clearly more to this story than what meets the eye.
Mr. Blackburn’s lawyer, Charles Flood, said his client was being prosecuted as a “consolation prize” after Ms. Ogg and her investigators could turn up no evidence to support any theory of election fraud or interference. “This case isn’t about the election — it’s about time sheets,” Mr. Flood said in a statement. “My client is not guilty, and we look forward to defending his innocence.”
We already see that the liberal news media has gone into overtime claiming “no fraud took place”
isn't there a standard to provide 10% more than the previous count for each location? It believe I've heard they have a rule along that line
