It appears that tensions are rising between Hidalgo and Briones in Harris County. Briones is far more accomplished and refined than Hidalgo is, and it is apparent that Hidalgo is aware of this. Briones has shown herself to be far more amenable to common sense than idealism when it comes to discussions in commissioners court, whereas Hidalgo tends to lean towards an emotional approach when placing votes and her choice of words in court.
Back when she was first elected on the the coat-tails of a good but losing showing by Beto running against Cruz, The Comandante was mentioned as a rising star in the Democrat constellation- a future governor of TX. She checked all the boxes- immigrant, brown, Spanish-speaking, female. Some think she's attractive. Me, I don't see it. But to each his own. :-\
